Our patients have come from all over the world and thousands of babies have been born worldwide from treatment at BFC.īarbados Fertility Centre has a satellite unit in Trinidad since 2009 and in 2019 opened a second IVF facility in Cayman – Cayman Facility Centre. The clinic is the regions only JCI accredited IVF unit and joins a handful of medical facilities with JCI accreditation in the Caricom region. Barbados Fertility Centre has become the forefront of the fertility medical tourist destination – with 95% of patients being nonresidents. The centre was established to treat local, regional and international patients. From the beginning the mission was to create a center, which would maximise each and every couple’s chance of success by offering the latest technology and the best facilities and by ensuring attention to every detail. Skinner was instrumental in developing Barbados Fertility Center from a start up unit with the goal of becoming one of the best in the world. Fertility and IVF then became the main focus of her interest with the opening of the islands first In Vitro Fertilisation unit in 2002.ĭr. In 1999 she returned home to Barbados where she dedicated her time to expanding the medical care options to women on the island and within the Caribbean.
During this time she developed and evaluated a number of ultrasound diagnostic tests both for fertility and for obstetrics.
Following membership she took on the role of a Perinatal Research Fellow.
